AkumaMC Skyblock 2.0 | Season 1 Changelog

AkumaMC Skyblock 2.0 | Season 1 Changelog

Welcome to AkumaMC Skyblock 2.0; our biggest gamemode revamp to date. We’ve spent countless hours preparing this update, and the team have worked incredibly hard to present a 2.0 update that we feel proud of.

If you’ve already scrolled down the page slightly, you’re probably aware of the pretty sizeable changelog that Invis and I have written and might be worried that we’ve completely overhauled the entire gamemode. I want to assure you, that’s not what we’ve done. Whilst we were preparing this update, we made sure to ask you guys loads of questions relating to what you wanted to see in the update and kept in the forefront of our minds the fact that this is a revamp, not a complete rework.

A lot of things have changed, all for the better (we hope), but fundamentally, the basics of the gamemode remain the same. We’ve moved some things around, reworked some features, removed some old ones and added some new, but it’s still the same gamemode that you’ve grown to love.

We’ve also got loads of suggestions from all the BETA tests we’ve conducted (thank you to everyone who participated) and will be looking at them all and seeing if they’re something we should add in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the changelogs channel in our discord so you know what we’ve added and when we do!

You’re probably sick of reading this now, and desperate to get into the changelogs, so I’ll end the introduction here. We hope you’ll enjoy this update as much as we think you will!

Island Stats

The new way of progression and upgrading your Island to be the best is through your Island Stats. These upgrades can be purchased using Stat Points which are obtained by leveling up your Island [See Below].

Our aim with this new system is to give you the opportunity to decide how and when you want to progress your island, allowing you to customize your experience.

The available upgrades are:

  • Island Size
Expand the size of your Island.
  • Crop Upgrade
We have removed the old Crop Mastery system, and moved the progression of crops into Island Stats.
  • Value Bucket Limit
They're back with a fresh purpose! Upgrading this stat increases the amount that can be placed on your Island.
  • Spawner AFK Radius
Expand the radius of which your Spawners can be AFK from.
  • Crop Growth Speed
Increase the rate of your crop growth on your Island.
  • Cobble Generator
Upgrade the value of blocks that can be generated from your Cobblestone Generator. It now includes the ore and the block variant!
  • Warp Limit
Increase the amount of warps that can be created on your Island.

  • Fishing Level
Increase the quality of the fish caught at your Island.

View and upgrade your Island stats with the command /is stats

Island Levels

Island Levels, closely tied to Island Stats, is the new feature for Island progression. Leveling up your Island will reward you with Stat Points which can then be used to buy upgrades. To gain XP (towards leveling up), you can perform a variety of different tasks along with your Island Members.

These tasks include:

  • Mining
  • Farming
  • Fishing
  • Logging
  • Grinding

Or simply just playing on the server!

View your Island Level and XP progress within the /island menu or on the Scoreboard. Island Levels are also displayed in front of Island members' names in chat!

Skills

Although not fundamentally changed, skills have undergone some serious QoL alterations to keep them fresh during the entirety of the season, and to make sure they are continuously useful.

Skill Rewards
Unlike the old system, each skill level reached now rewards you in its own way. We hope by making rewards per level rather than per interval, the Skill meta will swap depending on how progressed you are. Once unlocked, the rewards can be claimed in the /skills menu.

We have also done some specific work to each skill:

Mining

  • We have reworked the Mining Cavern, and removed all of the annoying obstacles.
  • The Island Cobble Generator will now contribute positively to your Mining Skill XP, as well as fill up any Value Buckets within its chunk.
  • Mining Momentum has been rebalanced to keep it in line with the new economy.
  • Sell prices in the /shop have also been rebalanced to keep Mining progressive and relevant in later bits of the map.

Farming

  • Changed the Skill progression when farming Sugarcane, as we don't want the crop to become dominant in the map.
  • Reworked the Farming economy.
  • Made necessary changes to allow giant cactus farms to be built, and balanced /shop accordingly.

Fishing

  • Fishing has been moved from individual areas to your Island - you'll have to build your own pond now, or use someone else's!
  • Completely revamped the Fish loot pool; each new Fish now represents a member of Management 😉
  • The tier of Fish you are able to reel in will correspond with your Fishing Stat Island Level. Do note, going to someone else's Island won't allow you to Fish from their loot pool; it's based on your Island.
  • Decreased the maximum possible number of Fish caught in a single reel from 250 to 100.

Logging

  • Reduced the number of /forest worlds from 6 to 3, and made each world wider.
  • Completely removed Spirits from all Forests, and removed the Soul Well too. We felt that Spirits took away from the experience, and truthfully, were quite annoying.
  • Made some minor tweaks to Bob the Helper.

Grinding

  • Balanced economy in line with the fact that many mobs cannot be killed using fire.
  • Reworked level intervals to ensure that a Grinding meta will appear in different phases of the season.

Other Skill Changes

  • Skill Armor has been removed. We have integrated the perks of Skill Armor within different aspects of the game.
  • The Ultimate Skill has been removed.
  • Skill Vaults have been removed and in return buffed the rewards from Skills.
  • Added a broadcast when a player reaches the max level of a Skill.

Tools

We've removed and revamped the current Enchants, and introduced some new ones to keep Skills fitting with the meta.

The most notable changes are:

Pickaxe

  • Transfuse has been replaced with Midas Touch, which turns the ore you mine into the block version of itself.
  • Added the Arrow Storm enchant, which rains down arrows onto the mine, destroying any blocks that it comes into contact with.
  • The Meteor enchant has been given an update, and now spawns multiple meteors when it activates.
  • We removed Precise Mining because we felt that the enchant was not beneficial to the Pickaxe.

Fishing Rod

  • Added the Fishing Buddy enchant. This enchant will spawn a Fisherman that will help you reel in more Fish.
  • Tsunami enchant has been revamped to now give the next tier Fish when activated.

Sword

  • Adjusted the power of other enchants.
  • Removed Ethereal enchant. For added haste, place and set up a beacon on your Island!

Axe

  • The Electro enchant was removed because we felt that it was just a duplicate of Thor's Hammer.

Global Enchants [Applied to all Tools]

  • Added the enchant Akuma's Blessing! When this enchant activates it will grant you and everyone on the server a reward!
  • Added the Autosell enchant. When this enchant is maxed, it will instantly sell all of the items gained from that specific Tool.
  • We removed the aspect of Rebirth Enchants and added more levels.
  • The rarities of enchants are more distinct and the higher rarities are much harder to obtain.

/Warp Enchanter
Now introducing Brandon the Bookworm! Brandon will help you open books to select the enchants! Open Brandon's menu and place a book inside and choose which enchant that you want.

After choosing the enchants for the books with Brandon, apply those enchants on Tools with Tim the Enchanter.

Legend Perk
Legend now has the perk to open books and enchant Tools whenever and wherever they want! Execute the command /enchant to open up the menu.

You can view all the enchants that are available with /enchants

Spawners

Spawners are one of the most fundamental aspects of the entire Skyblock gamemode, so we felt it was time to make some changes. Being a feature of vanilla Minecraft, there are only so many modifications we can make, so we wanted to keep the changes small and meaningful.

The main changes to spawners include:

The Removal of Spawner Merging
With the changes we've made to the economy, we felt that spawner merging no longer worked. This is, of course, subject to change, but the feature has been completely disabled for the time being.

With this change being implemented, we've decided to allow you to sell old spawners back to the shop. Although the loss in value is pretty significant when selling, we're hoping it'll bring a nice change to the economy as a whole.

Lowered Island Spawner Limit
We felt that the amount of spawners you were able to place on your Island was a little bit insane, so we've lowered the limit (to the still quite insane) 6,400. We're hoping this will stop:

  • Mobs stacking infinitely into stacks of 100k+
  • Performance issues on less powerful clients
  • Random loss of mob drops

Changed Fire Damage
A pretty simple change to explain really: all mobs from Chicken up to Blaze don't take fire damage. You must kill them manually.

Pets

Pets have been completely reimagined! (From peych: And they are my absolute favorite addition this season) We have changed the style and function of how they work to be more progressive to each individual skill, so they are definitely a must-have.

How do they work?
Each pet has a dedicated mob that follows you around wherever you go, and most importantly, they can be seen by anyone on the server. Simply activate the pet, like how they worked in previous seasons, and continue with you grinding.

The different types of Pets are:

  • Farming Pet
This pet is a cow and will help you gain Farming Skill XP.
  • Grinding Pet
This pet is a wolf and will help you gain Grinding Skill XP.
  • Mining Pet
This pet is a zombie and will help you gain Mining Skill XP.
  • Fishing Pet
This pet is a squid and will help you gain Fishing Skill XP.
  • Logging Pet
This pet is an ocelot and will help you gain Logging Skill XP.
  • Gem Pet
This pet is a slime and will help you find more Gems.

How to Upgrade your Pet
To match Pets with your progression through the season, they are upgraded by performing skills. We felt as this being the most logical way to increase their boost instead of purchasing it with Gems, as done previously.

Island QoL

Islands have been given some touch-ups and new additions to liven up the experience. We noticed that many of you have requested more content to bring together the community and make it more enjoyable all together.

Public Islands Menu
The highly anticipated and more requested public Island menu is finally here! Advertise your Island or view others with little to no effort.

How do I view the Islands?
Any Island can be viewed in the menu if their Island is unlocked. This is a great opportunity to advertise your shops, public grinders, or any fun event you made for players to enjoy. We also increased the player visit limit so there is no worry of full Islands!

/publicislands will open the menu for you to explore!

How Do I Set It Up?
There are a few commands and customizations that you can apply to set up your island.

/is lock - This command will unlock / lock your Island. Your Island must be unlocked for it to be viewed.

/ is set description [text] - This command will allow you to set a description for your Island. For full customization, you can use chat colors but cannot use &1 or &0. Formatting chat colors, such as bold or underline, cannot be used either.

/is set emblem - This command will open a menu for you to choose the emblem for your Island

Island Achievements
Time to flex your advancements! Once you have reached a milestone, you will be rewarded with an Achievement! Although these do not affect your progression or gameplay, we feel that this will be something special to make you feel proud about your Island.

What Kind of Achievements Are There?
There are a variety of achievements that can be reached throughout the season.

Some example of different categories are:

  • Reaching a specific Island Level
  • Obtaining a certain amount of Money / Gems in your Island Bank
  • Max our Stats or all Stats on your Island
  • Have placed a certain number of Spawners on your Island
  • There are also some secret ones too! 😉

You can view and read all of the achievements in /is achievements

Island Value

Island Value had a total makeover and it is now the best it has ever been! We addressed every issue and implemented many of the QoL suggestions that were submitted.

What did we change?
Value Tickets are no more and have been re-invented into (what some of you may remember) Value Blocks. These Value Blocks when obtained are locked to the Island, meaning they cannot be traded with other players.

What are Value Stations?
Each Island has a pre-placed Island Value Station that is used to deposit and calculate your weekly and overall Island Value. To deposit the Value Blocks into the Station, simply hold the block(s) in your hand and right click.

If you want to change the location of the Island Value Station, right click the beacon with an empty hand and click on the beacon within the menu. When you have picked the perfect spot, left-click to confirm the new location.

The following different types of Value Blocks are:

  • Iron (2k)
  • Gold (4k)
  • Diamond (5k)
  • Emerald (6k)
  • Beacon (8k)
  • Dragon Egg (10k)

You can view all of these Value Blocks in /valueblocks

How do you get Value?
Value Blocks can be obtained in multiple different ways while playing on Skyblock.

You can find them in:

  • Value Buckets
Filling up Fishing / Farming / Mining / Grinding Value Buckets will produce a random Value Block.
  • Mission Contracts
When claiming a completed Mission Contract, you have a chance of being given a random Value Block.
  • Value Shop
Found within the /shop menu, the main place to obtain Island Value. You can purchase any Value Block using Money.

Island Payouts will be calculated using weekly value.

Mission Contacts

Mission Contracts are a fresh new item that we've decided to bring to Skyblock, with the intention of ensuring that you're able to continue working on challenges throughout the entire map, ensuring it doesn't go stale.

When claiming an unclaimed contract, you will be presented with 4 different difficulties to choose from:

Easy

  • The simplest type of contract to complete. Once accepted, the contract will be populated with 3 different easy missions, and the reward pool will be the most basic available.
  • These missions are best suited to early-game.

Medium

  • Slightly more challenging than the previous type, a medium contract will give you 4 different missions, slightly more challenging in difficulty. The loot pool will be stronger than that of an easy contract.
  • These missions are aimed at being completed early to mid season.

Hard

  • Another step up from the previous difficulty, hard missions will really challenge your ability. The step between this and medium contracts is quite significant, but the reward pool is buffed to account for this.
  • These missions are aimed at mid to late game.

Extreme

  • The hardest type of missions that you can receive from a contract, extreme missions aren't for the faint of heart. With some high expectations and extreme challenges, these should only be accepted if you're absolutely certain you're ready. When you complete it, though, the reward is more than worth the sacrifice, with the loot table being the most OP that we've ever made publicly available.
  • These missions should be completed late-game; they'll probably be impossible at the start!

It's worth noting that once a Mission Contract has been accepted, it can't be changed; you're stuck with the challenges it gives you! They're not locked to a player, so you can trade them at any stage of their lifespan.

They are mainly obtainable from crates, skill rewards and adventures, and will be a highly valuable item in the economy.

Robots

Robots have undergone a huge change to ensure that they are beneficial throughout the entirety of the season. We also addressed the issue of them being way too abundant and easy to obtain, so they are now a lot more rare and OP.

Types of Robots
Robots now include tiers! These tiers will influence how quickly they perform and the amount of rewards they give from working - common Robots working the slowest and legendary Robots working the fastest.

The different tiers are:

  • Common
  • Rare
  • Legendary

Robot Scrolls
Robot scrolls are still the same since the previous seasons however, Fortune Scrolls can no longer be purchased from the /shop. This scroll is now very rare and OP, meaning they can only be exclusively found from crates and as special rewards!

You can view the different types of Robots and what they do with /robots

Value Buckets

Given all the changes in economy this season, and the rework in how value is handled, we felt it was time to bring back an old favorite: Value Buckets. For those that haven’t played out previous seasons, here is a quick down of how they work:

  • You place a value bucket in in the location you complete a skill (i.e. a mining value bucket would go next to your cobble generator).
  • When performing skills (on your island), any value buckets in your chunk have a random chance to be contributed to, filling them up.
  • Once a value bucket is filled to the top, you can claim Island Value from them (weighted by rarity).

The following buckets are available:

  • Mining (contributed to by using your cobble generator)
  • Farming (contributed to by breaking crops)
  • Fishing (contributed to by catching fish)
  • Grinding (contributed to by killing mobs)

There is a limit to how many buckets you’re able to place on your island at one time, which can be upgraded through /is stats.

Lootables

Each type of key and crate has been reworked to be more valuable and OP. We noticed that after a certain point of the season, they became useless and way too abundant for our liking.

Keys
We have created a brand new system for keys! We have changed the names to their rarity and are incredibly valuable throughout any point of your journey through Skyblock!

The different types of Keys are:

  • Common
  • Rare
  • Legendary
  • Vote

Opening these Keys are quite different as they are no longer virtual. Once you have obtained Keys within your inventory, go to /warp crates and walk up to the crate that is designated for each type. Right click the crate with the Key and your reward(s) will spew out!

Airdrops
The rewards within the airdrops have been completely rebalanced to ensure that they are very valuable! These will be essential to help with your progression and are truly rewarding! We decreased the amount of rewards obtained from 5 to 9 to make the loot pool the best.

Weekly Clusters
Although the only cluster to be seen with this change is the first SOTW Cluster, we have huge plans to align the future Clusters to be OP and equivalent to the economy of that week. Each Cluster will also be labeled to which week that it belongs to keep everyone up to date!

Battlepass

With a complete revamp, we've also decided that it's time to roll out a fresh set of battlepass quests. Although we can't list all of the changes in here (because there are so many), we'll explain our thought process behind a few changes, and why we think they're for the better:

Pointless Quests
Quests such as "execute a command" were a total waste of time, as they'd be completed without even having a second thought. All quests now require at least some sort of input.

Lack of Variety
The types of quest were becoming stale, and no longer ranged throughout the entirety of the gamemode. With this rework, we've tried to incorporate little aspects of everything you'd be expected to be able to reasonably obtain each week in quests, meaning you've got to do little bits of everything to complete each tier.

Lack of Proper Weighting
Quests were weighted poorly in terms of the XP you gained for completing them, with quests such as "execute /help" giving the same XP as something like "mine 10,000 blocks". Both quests require a different amount of effort and commitment, this should reward differently.

Broken Daily Quests
Daily Quests had never worked as we intended to, and also had very little variety. We felt that rather than re-working different features and trying to make them work in the economy, the best course of action was to just remove them.

The pass will remain free for all players, with the premium tier being available from our store as it always has been.

Global Boosters

Having re-assessed the situation regarding boosters on the server, we've decided to overhaul the existing daily booster system into this new feature. Rather than random boosts activating each day, boosts will now be purchasable from the store and activated in-game. When the booster gets redeemed, it will be added to the booster queue, and the be activated globally once all boosters before it expires.

You can view the boosts that are currently active by using /globalbooster. The following types of boosters will be available:

  • Farming
  • Mining
  • Grinding
  • Logging
  • Fishing
  • Crop Growth

As you can see, each individual booster will boost a key aspect of the game. We hope that by giving players the chance to choose which booster activates and when it’s active, skills will have a more linear progression, and people will be encouraged to contribute to whatever skill is currently being boosted.

We’re also hoping that by reducing the time between changes in the types of boosts active, people won’t feel obliged to work on a single skill all day, but rather mix between the different types. Boosters will be obtainable on the store using Giftcards and money.

Sign Shops

Sign Shops have been given a large revamp and can be created or adjusted with ease. There have been many suggestions to give Shops a QoL update and we believe that this is now the most efficient it has ever been!

How to Create Sign Shops
Rather than creating sign shops within the sign itself, it has been changed to a simple-to-use command.

① Place down a chest and a sign onto the chest.
② Point your crosshair at the sign and open your chatbox.
③ Use the command: /signshop create buy/sell (item) (amount) money/gems (price)
④ The sign will update and be functional for all players!

You can view the items that can be used in Sign Shops here!
